Ms. Van Horn knew she was going to pursue a career in the law from the time that she was a young child. As a teenager, Alissa entered the foster care system and became very passionate about pursuing a career to help other children in the foster care system, especially teenagers. The experience of facing her own neglectful mother and meeting her father for the first time in a courthouse solidified Alissa’s desire to help other families through the practice of law. Understanding the statistics related to the success of children in the foster care system, Alissa was more determined than ever to break the cycle and refused to become another statistic. With the support and assistance of her foster family, social workers and other mentors, Alissa was the first person in her biological family to attend and graduate college and law school. Throughout her years in practice, Alissa ultimately expanded the focus of the firm. Whether it is to end abusive marriages, bring happy couples together through prenuptial agreements, create families through adoption, or fight for children to have healthy meaningful relationships with both of their parents, Alissa’s passion lies in helping others through the difficult, complicated and emotional legal process.

Ms. Van Horn is admitted to practice law in New York, Connecticut, and the United States Supreme Court. After five years of practicing in boutique law firms in New York City, Alissa opened the doors to her solo practice in 2010. She spent five years vigorously working to expand the firm, and ultimately, in 2015, Alissa was joined by her colleague and friend, Meredith Friedman, Esq. and together they formed Van Horn & Friedman, P.C. Always putting the interests of her clients first, Ms. Van Horn implements negotiation strategies to achieve the optimal results for her clients when a trial is not in their best interests. As a pioneer in her field, she works tirelessly on behalf of her clients to obtain the best possible results.
